What Does Your Mom Mirror Image Look Like?
What do you see when you look at yourself in the mirror? Do you see just how flawed you are? I know having babies changes our bodies in ways we might not like. It’s easy to look in the mirror and hate what we see. The truth is we are more than what we see in the mirror.
Today I share two simple steps to help you change your mirror image to the one you will love. Before I get to the simple tips, I want to share a song that inspires me. It’s called Priceless by for King and Country. It reminds me that I am irreplaceable, unmistakable, incomparable, and beautiful. If there is one thing I want you to take away from this episode is you are more than what you see in the mirror. You brought a whole miracle to this world.
My tip number one is always to step out feeling comfortable: When you are comfortable with what you are wearing, it makes you feel good, and your mom mirror image is enhanced. I know sometimes we don’t have the energy to dress up, especially after a new baby, but all you need to do is be comfortable. It could be as simple as a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.
Tip number two, do your hair: Nothing boosts a woman’s confidence like a nice hairdo. My baby came premature. I had plans to get my hair braided before the baby came, but that never happened because when I went for my check up, I got admitted immediately. My hair was a hot mess while at the hospital. My sister came from another state and did some cornrows for me, but I wasn’t comfortable with the look.
When I got home, I couldn’t stomach the person I saw in the mirror. One day, I called a close friend to drive me to a salon to do my hair. When she got to my place, she thought I was in no condition to get my hair done. I insisted for the sake of my sanity. I got it done, and I can tell you, it was the magic I needed!
