“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.”

This is a pretty simple idea, and a hard thing to live out. Especially within the Church. Paul tells his readers that having special spiritual gifts is good, but only if they’re used in love. And Jesus is the ultimate example of this.
