3 things you should know about Pilates
Life after physical therapy & Why you do not have to live with pain
Jeanelle Singh has a healers heart.  She lives to see others thrive with her help.  She grew up in Union City and before opening her studio worked for James Logan High

School as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.  She is definitely plugged in to our community as a member of the Alvarado Historical Merchants Association, a member of the New Haven Schools Foundation Board, and an alternate for Union Cities Planning Commission.  I am not sure where she finds the time!
Through her Pilates Studio, Core Fitness by Jeanelle, she guides her clients to live healthier, be fit, and to find relief from pain.  Jeanelle shares her story with us in our interview.  I ask her what she studied in school and what lead her to opening her Pilates Studio.
When she was working as a physical therapist she was plagued by a question. “What happens to people after they are done with PT?  She saw a need, a gap to fill.  Patients received however many weeks of physical therapy and then were pretty left to their own devices after that.  Core Fitness by Jeanelle was founded in part to fill that gap.  Jeanelle helps clients strengthen their core, better supporting their own bodies with can  do wonderful things to control pain and leads to all around better health.  She offers one on one and duet training, as well as, group classes.  There is an option for everyone.
From her own website:

Jeanelle Singh, MA, CPI, Pn1
Jeanelle graduated from San Francisco State University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology with a concentration in Physiology. Soon after graduation she began working in patient care/rehabilitation. She began teaching Pilates in 2010 in a rehabilitation setting as well as with private clients and received her Pilates Teacher Certification (CPI) in 2011 through Balanced Body University. While working the last two years, she attended a Master’s program through Liberty University, graduating in December 2013 with a Master’s of Arts in Human Services with a concentration in Health and Wellness. This program provided her with knowledge in patient care in a variety of settings, communication skills with patients/clients, and health promotion/education. Jeanelle is currently working on her nutrition certification to be able to educate her clients and the general public about the importance of proper nutrition. Jeanelle has a passion to work as a health promoter/educator in different settings educating others on the importance of exercise and nutrition.

During our interview I ask Jeanelle to share the most important things for people to understand about Pilates.  She gives advice to anyone just getting started with a fitness regimen.  We talk Pre and Post Natal Care, Asthma, recovery from injurites and more.  Core Elite Nutrition offers nutrition counseling services as well.
Her studio is special.  It’s not too big and that is on purpose.  A clear vision guided her choices such as not having any mirrors.  “I wanted a place that encouraged really getting to know my clients, allowing me to pay more attention to them.”  Also, the lack of mirrors is deliberate. “I want my clients to feel comfortable.  Not like they do in a big corporate gym with mirrors everywhere.  Also, you shouldn’t look to a mirror to tell you if your position is correct.  It’s correct when it FEELS correct. Your body knows.”
