Listen Later

Welcome to the 25th Hour Podcast – where successful business owners talk about the magic of creating a 25th hour every day! We've all been there - your calendar is in great shape. Your to-do list is done. You are in the zone . . . All your balls in the air are being easily juggled. Then....something changes, and suddenly chaos reigns! This podcast will help you learn to up-level your time management strategies so you can get back in control of your day – and make an extra hour, your 25th hour, a reality - every day.

Today’s guest is Attorney Jennifer Corso, who is a Partner at Petronzio Schneier Co., LPA, and has represented Cleveland area employers in labor & employment law for over 25 years. Jennifer offers employers a proactive approach to employment matters, innovative solutions, and top-rate advocacy in defending employee claims. Her work ranges from employee handbook drafting & legal review, employee and supervisor training, to employer representation in workers’ compensation and unemployment claims, to legal defense of harassment and discrimination claims in state and federal courts.

In this interview, we discuss the value of saying “No”, the importance of following HR best practices, and why being in legal compliance is a part of time management. Tune in to learn why doing things right in the beginning can save you a ton of hassle in the end.

Time Management Strategies for Success:

  • Saying NO - “I love the adage that “No” is a complete sentence.  I learned long ago to set boundaries when it comes to my time and to say no to certain things.”
  • Being in Legal Compliance - “Being in legal compliance in all aspects of your business is part of time management. It’s a time suck up front, but it fits those old adages like “A stitch in time saves nine” and “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”
  • Following HR Best Practices - “Employee handbooks, for instance. Are they legally required? No. is it a really good idea to have them? Yes. They save time by communicating the rules and telling people what they’re supposed to do or not do, how to go about it, and having it all in writing.”

Here’s how Jennifer likes to spend her 25th Hour:

  • Puzzles - “I am a puzzler. I have easily 2-3 dozen jigsaw puzzles in my home. On a cold, icky, winter Sunday, I like nothing better than pulling out a 1,000-piece puzzle and seriously not moving for four hours.
