Tracy and Michael discuss Michael's background that led him to coaching. He discusses living in New York working numerous corporate jobs before getting to a high status, high income job that left him feeling like something was missing. He abused drugs and alcohol and "bought expensive shit" to deal with his unhappy life. He decided to change his life, which led him to study spirituality and learn yoga. He searched for his purpose and landed on life coaching.
Michael defines toxic self-help and explains how it causes people to feel like there is something wrong with them and they are doing something wrong. He teaches on a better way to improve your life. They discuss work-life balance and how it is not realistic for everyone at all times in life. Most people have to "work their asses" off first to create a life that offers work life balance. Work doesn't cause us to be out of balance. Spending all of the income they earn on expensive things they don't need causes the imbalance, according to Michael.
Michael explains that there are 3 ways to earn income:
Climbers - the person who works as and employee and climbs the ladder of the years
The Dreamer - the business owner who has a dream and builds it
The Savants - The influencers, speakers, celebrities, etc
Michael defines "mindfullness" and explains how it benefits people and how coaches use it as a tool for individuals who don't have a spiritual component. He uses this term and its elements to teach things like non-attachment, emotional intelligence, etc. They discuss death, pain, suffering, and detachment.
Michael gives his background in spirituality and how he has shaped his life. Tracy and Michael discuss "the difference" between Western and Eastern philosophies.
Michael gives us some serious gems to think about. He breaks this information down in a very easy to understand format! For more on Michael and Elevated Life Project check him out here:
