September is Suicide Prevention Month. It would be remise of me not to speak on this topic on the podcast. I have been very open with my mental health struggles, but I alone am not knowledgeable enough to bring you the facts around such a taboo topic. We have a special guest this week whose bio speaks for itself. We welcome (soon-to-be, Dr.) Jenay Garrett (we are speaking that into existence). Mrs. Garrett stepped into Lavender Land with a plethora of information around mental health and suicide. We discuss: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, substance abuse and the statistics, facts and myths surrounding suicide. I learned so much and I think you will too. Don't skip this episode because you feel your mental health is in tact. Jenay's vast knowledge can help educate listeners and make you more aware of what to look for in your own life and the lives of others. This candid conversation was so eye-opening for me. Together we can change the stigma and statistics around suicide.
If you or someone you know may be experiencing a mental health crisis, help is available. Below you will find multiple sources of help.
