Man United, Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham have joined other top teams from Spain and Italy to form a new competition called the super league. It is proposed that as the founding teams these clubs could never be relegated from the competition and of course they would also get the lions share of any profits. It is not an understatement to say that this proposal has caused an earthquake like response from the footballing community, with fans and both national and international regulators strongly apposing the move and threatening sanctions including banning those teams from other competitions like the Champions League and their players from representing their countries internationally. In Episode 20 we discuss the new proposal and try to explore whether there is any merit in the new competition or whether these clubs are simply acting in their own self interest without a care for the beautiful game and driven purely by greed
