He earned his moniker because many of his crimes took place along the Interstate 5 corridor in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Woodfield was initially known for his promising career as a football player, having been signed by the Green Bay Packers in 1974, but he was soon cut from the team due to his behavioral issues.Between 1980 and 1981, Woodfield committed a series of brutal crimes, including sexual assaults, robberies, and murders. His victims were often women whom he would approach in public places, such as bars or parking lots, before assaulting and killing them. Woodfield's crimes escalated in violence over time, and he eventually became one of the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives.Woodfield was eventually apprehended in January 1981 and was convicted of multiple counts of murder, attempted murder, and other offenses. He is currently serving a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole.
