Episode 202: Matt Cross | From Addiction to Redemption: Matt Cross’ Powerful Story
Have you ever looked at your life and wondered, ‘How did I get here?’ That’s exactly where Matt Cross found himself—until God stepped in.
Matt’s story is one of heartbreak, struggle, and ultimately, incredible transformation through the grace of God. Growing up amidst his parents’ divorce, a young Matt (just 10 or 11 years old) dreamed of helping others one day. But life took a detour—by age 12, he was introduced to drugs, starting with weed, then cigarettes, and eventually drinking. By the time he graduated high school, he was making runs to Baltimore for cocaine.
Yet in the midst of his darkest hours, one truth loomed large: God’s faithfulness doesn’t depend on ours. Through every relapse and wrong turn, God never gave up on Matt. Beneath the addictions and broken dreams was still that little boy on Interstate 81, wanting to help others. It took God’s unrelenting love and grace to bring that dream to life.
Today, Matt Cross serves as an Associate Pastor at Path Church in Harrisonburg, VA and is a member of the Rockingham County School Board. His life is a testimony that no one is too far gone for God’s redemption.
