In 1993, a Roman Catholic priest, an Irish Republican Army militant and a retired Rochester police officer were arrested in the robbery of $7.4 million from an armored car service in Rochester, NY.  It was one of the biggest and arguably the most infamous Brinks robberies in US history. All three suspects had connections with the Irish Republican Army and it has been assumed all along that the heist was to help fund the IRA.
