Episode 21 - Fear & Finances

Fear is relevant in today's world as it surrounds us in all areas, even our finances. Fear in and by itself is not bad; we need fear and anxiety to keep us safe. However, the perception of threat, this "fear," activates the sympathetic nervous system and triggers an acute stress response that allows our bodies to fight or flee. 

Remember, as these responses kick in, the brain is flooded with stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. This is needed in aspects of our lives, and other times this fear response occurs when there is no danger or intense situation that triggers anxiety. Understanding these responses and how to regulate our nervous system will increase your overall mental, emotional, and physical well-being. 

Fear doesn't always present itself with a lack of finances; it is not always about how much money you have. It is about how secure you feel with the money you have. I will repeat this; it is not about how much you have or make. It is about what you do with what you have and the feelings of security it brings you. This was my "aha moment" after my separation.  

Fear of finances is not always about lack of funds; it can be many things...listen to learn more as we give you examples, tips and tricks to work through your fear and anxiety regarding money. Including the five "R's": recognize, reflect, rebuke, reframe, and reposition will allow you to break away from fear and finances.
