This week I walk down memory lane and have a lot of laughs with Fiona Israel, who was my first proper policing partner when we both got posted to South London in 1989. Fiona went on to have a fascinating career and ended up with the United Nations in Sierra Leone after the civil war. There she met and married an Israeli diamond miner, which sounds both intriguing and impossibly glamorous.
