Independent pharmacy is dead. There is no chance the mom and pop shops can stand to play against the big boys, especially in today’s competitive pharmacy market. While these sentiments of stigma run rampant in our profession today, they are not holding their weight when it comes to one pharmacy family in Whitmire, South Carolina, who recently filled their MILLIONTH prescription as an independently owned and operated community pharmacy.
A recent #FitPharmFam Feature of ours, Blake Roche, is currently a pharmacy student at the Medical University of South Carolina in beautiful Charleston, SC. He's in his P4 year, and currently close to finishing up his 3rd of 9 month-long rotations. He comes from a family of pharmacists, following in both his grandfather and father's footsteps. He plans to return to his hometown of Whitmire, South Carolina, where his family has owned and operated an independent pharmacy for the past 52 years.
