We've been talking about counting the costs of faith. Jesus told us that following him would be costly. In fact, he said the world would hate us because of him. What exactly does he mean? "Hate" is often viewed as the opposite of love. The world often uses "love" synonymously with acceptance. Pursuing Jesus may come at the cost of acceptance, but pursuing acceptance may come at the cost of our soul.
