Show 210 – Recorded 2-4-2023 – With this podcast we again interview our friend, ethnomusicologist, discoverer and producer Dr David Evans about his working with and recording major blues legend and slide guitar genius, Mr Mississippi Fred McDowell. Dr Evans tells us about his meeting and working with Mr McDowell to help him prepare to record two important albums recorded by Dr Evans’ fellow grad student, Mr Pete Welding. The albums are Long Way From Home, 1966 and Levee Camp Blues, 1968. Dr Evans tells us a little about each of the 14 selections and the reasons for those songs. Please give a listen.
