Join us as we meet Vanessa Ortiz. Vanessa is currently serving as the President of the Board of Directors for the cooperative residential building, River Point Towers, located at 555 Kappock Street in Spuyten Duyvil. Serving on a co-op board is a volunteer position, but it comes with huge responsibilities. According to the building’s by-laws, Vanessa is effectively a CEO of the corporation that is River Point Towers Cooperative, Inc., a 410-apartment community. Vanessa’s full-time job is with the Innocence Project, a national non-profit organization with a mission to free wrongly convicted people and create fair and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Vanessa also started her own interior design services business, This Bronx Girl Designs, during the height of the COVID 19 pandemic. She’s a native of the Bronx and a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, has lived and worked in places like Bosnia, Afghanistan, the Middle East, as well as several African and Asian countries.
