Forgiveness: What the lack of forgiveness can do to the physical body. There are many health issues that occur when we are unable to forgive others or even forgive ourselves.
There is a huge physical burden when we are unable to forgive that leads to anxiety, high blood pressure, heart disease, weak immune system and much more.
Forgiveness is not just about saying a word, it’s an active process, it’s an attitude. It’s actually a way of life.
If we choose to be a forgiving person, then we become a forgiving person.
But if we choose to hold on to anger and resentment, it becomes destructive to the body.
From a perspective of forgiveness, ‘letting go’ is simply the thing that is required.
How do we do that?
It’s a choice and leads to the understanding that God is in control and that it is a grace that comes from God.
Forgiveness leads to less anxiety and stress, transforms into inner joy.
Forgiveness leads to lower blood pressure, which then lead to an openness to be able to receive God’s grace.
Forgiveness leads to a stronger immune system that translates into inner strength, the ability from the inside out to sustain courage and be connected to our Creator God.
Forgiveness leads to improved heart health, which leads to us being more empathetic. This leads to an ocean of goodness. Resentment or anger begins to dissipate and we become willing to extend beyond ourselves to help others and feel empathy for others.
If we think of forgiveness as an attitude, a way of life, as a prescription for health, then it becomes more tangible and palatable to practice.
Let us ask God for the grace and strength to be able to forgive and let go because it is impossible to do it on our own. If we do this, then what we are left with is joy, peace, patience, kindness and an ocean of goodness.
