Episode 22: Strategy Three – Sales Suck – but not with this framework

I hate selling

I have a story about selling plastics as a kids – it was awful

Hating to sell means you don’t like to trick people

It means maybe you feel like you are using people

But asking for money can be very scary – and there a re fears associated with that.


To make it easy to ask for the money:


Start with the problem

Position your product as the solution

Build a bridge between the problem and the solution by giving them a plan Give your customer a plan

Paint the stakes if they don’t

Paint the stakes if they do

Call them to action – ask for the money


What happens when we position ourselves as the guide, and not the hero – we earn respect, admiration.


Be careful of strategies that discount . Be mindful if any promotion you do is feeling like trickery, or under valuing your product. Is a free set of steak knives truly going to positon you as the solution to the problem.


If we have a quality solution to a quality problem, the money is not usually the objection.
