Either a MUST SEE or an I CAN’T BEAR TO SEE episode about our #cultureofpretty and our #cultureofconformity - or is it? Do we feel the need to be pretty as women due to culture and the expectations put upon us by others? Or do we focus on our exterior because it is part of our armour? Or have we just learned that our exterior self impacts how we feel about ourselves and vice versa? Or is an “exterior fix” just another example of our “fast-fix-culture” - it’s just plain easier and faster (albeit not necessarily healthier) to buy a product or service to quickly transform our hair, skin, complexion, nails, etc. - like magic! So much easier and faster than doing the real inner work to continue to refine ourselves as art - as beauty - from the inside - remembering that true beauty is in the eye of the beholder. How do we view ourselves - as objects with aspirations to achieve Perfect Pretty? or as ever-evolving and transforming art in which we will be more and more at peace with once we can fully appreciate our own inner beauty.
