Katy was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS; genetic connective tissue condition) in high school and has used writing as a means of promoting chronic illness visibility. Since high school, she has gained extensive experience in advocacy through her involvements in organizations such as Diversability and the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.
