Stretching over 640,000 sq. kilometers and encompassing parts of 7 different
Chinese provinces, the Loess Plateau is approximately the size of France. John Liu’s film, “Hope in
a Changing Climate” chronicles large-scale ecological restoration projects in the Loess Plateau, as
well, as in Ethiopia and Rwanda. On October 24th, John visited from Beijing, China and we hosted a
film screening at the University of Vermont. Amy Seidl and Jon Erickson joined John for a panel
discussion following the film. The event drew a full house.
