Martin Scorsese has become such a powerhouse of cinema that at this year’s Academy Awards he received a standing ovation during the best director’s acceptance speech without even having won. In the two most recent decades of his career Scorsese has directed sixteen features, produced three times as much film and television, brought two actors out of retirement, and created half of DiCaprio’s highlight reel. He can do almost anything other than make De Niro look like he’s in his thirties.
