Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody filed a federal lawsuit last week against Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, alleging the apps use "manipulative" features to maximize young people's time on social media. It contends Meta intentionally made social media addictive by deceptively downplaying negative impacts on the mental health of teens and other young people. Locally, Levin Papantonio Rafferty attorney Emmie Paulos has filed a lawsuit against Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok and YouTube on behalf of the Escambia County School Board.
