In 1924, a luxury hotel opened at the top of a hill with a stunning view of the Salto de Tequendama (Tequendama Waterfall). It was the place to go for Colombia’s elite. But legend states that many chose to kill themselves here, leaping from windows into the deep abyss. It took six seconds to reach the waters below fittingly named Lago de Los Muertos (Lake of the Dead). Now people say they feel a heaviness in the air or hear cries.
