Sexual violence is often used as a weapon of war. Unfortunately, claims of sexual violence are also used to declare victimhood in the face of legitimate allegations of war crimes, as is the case with Israel. As more and more details emerge from Israel's flimsy reports from October 7th, the issue of mass rape is a glaring example of how those perpetuating genocide weaponize rape claims in order to deflect from their own war crimes, some of which include sexual assault of Palestinian prisoners.
