This is the first of a series of podcasts featuring Fr. Brad Elliott, a Dominican priest from the Western Province of the US. We will be discussing themes relating to economics, Catholic social teaching and culture. Fr. Brad describes himself as a former Distributist who now is now more enthusiastic about the writing of Frederick Hayek.
In this episode we discuss whether or not economics can be considered a science, given that it is based around the activity of people whose actions are governed by free will. We also consider how being a Catholic might influence policy choice.
As he tells us, “Economics has an important part to play in creating fertile soil in society for the gospel to take root.”
