In this episode we talked about the H.E.R.S. rating system and what's not being done currently when it comes to the overall homes energy efficiency.
Just like cars, a homes energy efficiency needs to rated by a H.E.R.S. rater every two years so that the efficiency levels can be documented and improved over time, currently a H.E.R.S. test is only required for a home that’s getting a new HVAC system installed because it requires a permit.
In addition, the H.E.R.S. rating system needs to be done when a house is being purchased, sold or when any home improvement being done requires a permit.
It's like getting a "Smog Check" for your home like we do for our cars every two years.
