In this minisode, we step into the murky world of the Candy Man, aka Dean Corll. A homicidal homosexual that prayed on post pubescent boys. He exposed them to an incalculable level of torture, finally ending their lives with other a bullet to the head or strangulation.
What made this case stand out for the authorities was Corll was a active member of the community, always around to help out, so the finger of suspicion would never have been placed at Corlls door.
After recruiting two young men in in finding his victims, paying them a handsome amount of money he would make the victims write to their families. telling them that they were moving away.
The police took these letter on face value while mothers were becoming increasingly more angry at the inertia of the police. Runaways were just that, runaways.
When thing finally came to head and the subsequent investigation determine that if the police had taken a keener interest in the case, there would probably be boys still alive today.
