Edward Theodore Gein, aka The Butcher of Plainfield and as the Plainfield Ghoul, was an American murderer and body snatcher. Gein tormented his hometown of Plainfield, Wisconsin and gathered mass attention in 1957 after authorities discovered that he had exhumed corpses from local graveyards… as well as numerous body parts. Ed Gein also confessed to murdering two women.
But why did Ed Gein exhume corpses and collect very disturbing paraphernalia? There are numerous reasons we think played a role in the formation of the Plainfield Ghoul. A traumatic childhood, a strict Lutheran mother, and an unhealthy obsession with his mother were the wrongful influences behind Ed Gein.
