In Revelation 2 & 3, we see that at the close of this age, going into the tribulation, before Jesus is to return, He says to each of the seven churches—very directly and emphatically—“Let him who has an ear hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches”.

“Saying” is in the present and ongoing tense—Which is in complete harmony with what Jesus said concerning the Holy Spirit in John 14, that the Holy Spirit would show us things to come, and would lead us into all truth.

In other words, it is the ongoing, continual speaking of the Holy Spirit to the church in every generation that we must contend for, and apprehend spiritually.

And this area is the Lords predominant calling upon my life: to aid and equip the Church in every conceivable possible way to do this very thing—To walk in the Spirit, hear from the Spirit on a regular, consistent basis, specifically with regards to what He is saying to the church in this time.
