Episode 26. Theories on Mississauga Music, Spotify's Indie Platform & Do-It-Yourself Indie

Listen Later

We're rocking out on this week's episode of New Theory Radio as we profile the upcoming indie music festival - Rock The Coliseum; which is taking place at Mississauga's Celebration Square on Friday August 9th and Saturday August 10th.

Host Nav Nanwa is joined by festival curators Demetrius Nath and Chris Wulff (both from Mississauga Music) to talk about the festival and to 'theorize' on the city's booming music scene.

Then he welcomes two artists who will be participating in this week's festivities - lead singer of popular rock band Polarity -Jasmine Virginia, and up and coming Mississauga talent Kendra Charest-French to theorize on the following topics:

- Spotify pulling back on indie artists being able to upload music freely on their platform, and the ramifications of this decision
- the 'Do-It-Yourself' mentality that exists within Indie Music, and what's really involved in making things happen for yourself and your music
