Derek was a daily drinker whose life was spiraling out of control. It was impacting his work, relationships, health and finances. There was no controlling it, and despite some attempts at sobriety nothing seemed to last. Finally wanting a change for himself, he got sober in 2011 and hasn’t looked back since. His life has turned around and now he tries to connect with other people struggling with alcohol through his blog, Young Alcoholic.

When he’s not writing about sobriety, Derek can be found playing guitar, travelling abroad, and spending time with his family.
