Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan were certified box office gold and the definitive onscreen couple of the 90's, but their first onscreen pairing failed to capture audiences' hearts mostly by being too weird! And also, the final act is strangely, needlessly problematic and discomforting? It was the 90's, but it feels like it might have been bad, even for the 90's.
