In this special Serial Talker podcast we are going to take a detailed look into the horrific tragedy that played out at the Munich Olympics in 1972.  One week into the XX Olympiad on the morning of September 5th, Palestinian militants known as Black September, took 11 Israeli athletes and staff hostage. For 20 hours high drama played out live on television, broadcast around the world - precipitated by a horrendously bungled police shootout.

This episode of the podcast is especially poignant as I read a tribute to the 11 Israelis murdered at the 1972 Olympic Games at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics  Opening Ceremony just a few days ago. This was a historic moment in that it was the first time this atrocity had been recognized at the Olympic Games since it happened nearly 50 years ago. ★
