The club itself was originally founded by a group of followers of the Religious Society of Friends, commonly referred to as Quakers. Their aim to "omit all social frills that enter into the life of a country club, and mike it a shrine where the skill and ingenuity of the lover of the game could have full play" resulted in the club not serving alcohol until 1970. Much has changed since then, but this amazing golf course with very quick greens remains the same. Enjoy!
