Episode 27: The Worst Babysitters Ever

Listen Later

In this episode, Jesus tells the religious leaders a parable about a vineyard owner who rents his land to farmers. When the owner sends servants to collect his share of the harvest, the farmers beat and kill them one by one. Finally, the owner sends his beloved son, and the farmers kill him too, hoping to seize the vineyard for themselves. Jesus makes clear that the vineyard represents Israel, the farmers are the religious leaders, the servants are the prophets, and the beloved son is Jesus Himself. He then quotes Psalm 118 about the rejected stone becoming the cornerstone. The furious leaders want to arrest Jesus but fear the crowd. Kids learn that everything we have belongs to God, we are caretakers rather than owners, and Jesus is the cornerstone on which to build their lives.
