In Hebrews 1:1-2, the author of the epistle writes that “long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.” According to the author, with Jesus a new era has come (described as "the last days"). Right in the beginning of this letter, Jesus is presented in various roles.

 

Toward the end of the book in Hebrews 12:2, we read, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
