Since 2000, Alex Harris and Alex Designs LLC has designed and developed over one hundred different e-commerce websites. The company also has executed over five thousand different A/B and multivariate split tests. This includes creating dedicated landing pages, e-commerce optimization, and helping subscription-based websites make more money. The company’s goal is to help clients get the best web design, while improving conversions.
One of the top things Alex mentioned about responsive design for mobile is that you want to make sure that your Call to Action (CTA) is at the top of the page. A Call to Action should be above the fold on your web page for sure, but many people forget to check their themes on mobile phones.
Many Responsive Design themes will simply push the CTA down to the bottom of the screen resulting in the reader needed to scroll all the way down to reach the CTA. And as Alex says, "They Won't!" You may have to hack your theme to get it to put it at the top of the page.
CTA - Call to Action buttons - Don't use the standard "Submit" on any buttons. No one wants to submit to anything or anybody. Change the default to something that goes with the subject. For instance, if you want someone to sign up to download something, make the CTA Button something like: "Get Your Free Download".
Most web sites are too static. Web pages, whether internal (Intranets) or external, should be dynamic. If they don't change much, the reader won't stay around long or come back.
Too many businesses think they know what the customer wants. Think of the website like they would look at it. Don't make assumptions. Do Surveys.
