Lynden was selected by Melbourne with Pick #15 in the 2004 National Draft. Lynden made his AFL debut for the Melbourne Football Club in Rd 6 in 2006 against Geelong at the MCG. He played a total of 198 AFL games between 2005-2020. Lynden was at the Melbourne Football Club from 2005-2016 where he played a total of 165 games. He then was traded to Collingwood during the 2016 trade period and played with Collingwood from 2017-2020, playing a total of 33 games for Collingwood.
