Happy Spooky Wednesday! Today Kala is talking about creepy transportation (one of her favorite subjects) by covering the Hoosac Tunnel in Massachusetts. This tunnel took 20 years to build, and earned the nickname “The Bloody Pit” when tragedy struck during construction and trapped 13 workers in a deep hole filled with water, fire, and toxic fumes. And this was just one of the incidents that occurred during the build. Over 200 people were injured or lost their lives for this tunnel to be built. And as a result, it appears some of the spirits of these miners have stuck around, forever working to protect those who still work on the active rail line.
