In 1995 Maurizio Gucci, the head of the Gucci fashion empire was murdered as he arrived at his office in a trendy Milan neighborhood.  It was one of the most shocking scandals in Italy of the time: a glamorous socialite, well-known for the tabloid headlines about her super-rich exploits, Patrizia Reggiani, had been accused and later found guilty of ordering the assassination of her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci.
