Kristin Hovious is an educator with over two decades of experience in vocational, adult education. She led one of the Chicago's Cortiva Institutes as both Education Director and Adjunct Faculty Member from 2006-2017. Her love of anatomy and the science of human development brought her to the work of social Emotional learning

(SEL). Hovious is a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer, and served the Positive Discipline Association as a Director and Consultant from 2016-2018. In 2015, Hovious founded SEL Chicago to help adults learn the skills to create mutually respectful environments with intention. SEL Chicago's clients include Chicago Public Schools, Illinois State University, Columbia College Chicago, as well as private and parochial schools in the Midwest. She continues to grow in her practice and is pursuing her Master's of Science in Psychology at Indiana Institute of Technology. Hovious lives in Chicago, IL with her husband and two children.
