Lorri and Laura take Mile 20 to New Orleans for a now-discontinued Rock ’n’ Roll race just weeks before Mardi Gras—flat, festive, and full of Mardi Gras floats, bagpipes, and French Quarter charm. It was Madi’s first marathon, but the weekend was just as much about beignets, haunted bars, hurricane glasses, Bourbon Street chaos, and one mysterious black eye. Perfect race day weather, a scenic run past Jackson Square to Lake Pontchartrain, and truffle fries at Mr. B’s capped off a weekend where the real endurance test might have been the partying.
