I recently over-heard a mom tell her 2-year-old son that he was disgusting and it nearly broke my heart. If only she had had the awareness to tell him that what he did might have been disgusting but that he was not disgusting. We have to be able to separate our children from their behavior because at the end of the day, they are not their behavior. They are so much more than that.
