Lincoln Project chief of Staff Ryan Wiggins discusses how Sen. JD Vance and Gov. Tim Walz may impact the 2024 presidential race.

"Trump, I think, thought that JD Vance was going to bring in a younger demographic," she said. "That was the point of that pick. And the other point of that pick was the fact that the Silicon Valley was insisting on him.  Peter Thiel and Elon Musk both were very, very adamant that JD Vance was picked."

Wiggins continued, "Since JD Vance has been picked, he cannot avoid horrible gaffs and terrible news stories. I mean, the fact that we are on Week Two of it being discussed, whether or not he has had sex with his own couch is not what you really want to have in a presidential race. That is not what you want Googled."

What about Walz? She said, "You have on Kamala's side, she's picked America's dad. She has picked a guy who is about 60 years old. He is a firebrand, but he's also just really wholesome. I mean, it's hard to not like him.  He is a hunter. He is a fisherman. He is a former football coach. He served in Congress for 12 years before going and becoming a super popular democratic governor of Minnesota."

Wiggins added, "He's loved in the heartland. He has done really good things. I mean, any budget surplus in his state went to go feed children in schools."
