Many immigrants come to the United States for a chance of a better life. This is one of the darkest episodes of this podcast and I was contemplating not talking about it. But I figured it would be good for educational purposes and it was time to speak my truth. I'm a first generation American of Hispanic immigrant parents. This story is about my origins and the struggles my parents faced in the United States before becoming citizens. It's also about my childhood which was full of a lot of pressure, high expectations, and criticism. My parents were very hard on my older sister and I because they wanted us to become successful in life. If you don't learn from history, you are bound to repeat it. 🇺🇸🗽
