Listen Later

Our debut community feature episode, with three wonderful artists and an important update to the show.

Published in conjunction with Podcasthon 2026, a global charity movement with over 2500 podcasts from 65+ countries. Our chosen charity is The African Leadership Group, a non-profit initiative aiming to develop over 3 million African leaders and creative entrepreneurs by 2035.

This episode is all about leadership through vulnerability, so come have a listen to some amazing Kenyan artists leading the way in sharing their vulnerabilities about sound and music.

Featuring:

1. AKOKO - @vinceakoko on most plaftorms

2. Furaha - @lamusicjunkie on Instagram and Youtube
3. Shihembetsa Jerry - @shihembetsa on Instagram, TikTok & Facebook

AKOKO - A ‘bedroom’ Producer currently four years into his craft. At core, I am a song writer and rapper, I started rapping way back in 2011 after a mind-blowing poetry class in high school. Through the after years, I kept making music using YouTube beats, sharpening my pen over and over. I rap occasionally, but I’m now on a quest to find the most unique sound ever made!

Furaha - A Kenyan music journalist, event host and DJ. After years of supporting and promoting alternative African artists, she is now coming out of her shell to release and promote her own music. She is highly inspired by authentic Kenyan sounds such as benga and taarab, and everyday stories around love, travel and nature. Her first single “Sirudi” introduces a new yet familiar sound called TaaRnB, a unique fusion of Kenyan Taarab and American RnB. For more futuristic Afrofusion sounds, follow her musical journey at @lamusicjunkie.

Shihembetsa Andugu - A Nairobi-based musician, writer, and cultural commentator performing as Shihembetsa. His music blends reflective storytelling with contemporary urban sounds, creating songs that explore love, vulnerability, identity, and everyday human experiences.
Beyond music, Jerry is also the founder of BD 254, an online magazine that celebrates Kenyan art, culture, and hospitality. Through both his writing and music, he remains deeply invested in highlighting the creative voices shaping contemporary Kenyan culture.
