Hi, I wanted to hop on today to say thank you for listening to episode 2 called “What do you want” In this episode I’m going to talk about how to get what you want and put it into practice – yay!
But here’s the thing FIRST you have to take 100% responsibility for your life. You must stop blaming and complaining about everything and everybody else so that you can consciously create the life you want.
To achieve complete and full self-esteem we have to take full responsibility for our lives, for both our internal and external experiences. Often, we fall into the trap of blaming other people for how we feel and for what happens to us. We become distracted by looking for the solutions to our problems outside of ourselves. It is much more profitable, however, to look inside ourselves, to see how we are creating what we are experiencing through our thoughts, images and behaviours. Taking the position that we are responsible for our responses to the world gives us more power.
So, I hear you thinking “Well that’s never me”. You know what it is YOU. What you’re not prepared to face is that you need to change because you can’t change other people or situations. So, here’s the thing are you ready and willing to change? The formula we’re going to work with is called E + R = 0. E stands for all the events in our lives. R stands for our response to those events and O stands for the outcomes we experience.
I find this hard sometimes and must work hard on myself. Here’s an example: EVENT I recently wanted to change my car and the whole process from start to finish was hideous. I was getting really wound up and angry about the whole process RESPONSE. The OUTCOME could have been that I shouted and became negative when in fact I really wanted the car. BUT the problem was the dealerships IT systems, lack of training of sales people and a lack of customer focus. This wasn’t under my control, so I thought why am I getting wound up about it. If I changed my response to one of helping them get through their problems, I will get my car quicker so that’s what I did.
I’ve been right where you are right now and yet I have achieved more than I ever thought possible using this formula.
