If you feel like time is moving so fast its because your brain is bored with the same old stuff. When we are young the brain is stimulated with new information and it give you the perception of time being slower. As we get older, the familiar information that the brain us used to takes a shortcut giving us the feeling that time is speeding up and passing us by.
This simple ASAP approach will engage the brain so that we perceive time being slower. It’s a great way to slow things down and cherish the time we have.
ASAP approach to slowing things down:
A: Acknowledge the little things in life. Appreciate the small things that surround you and actively notice new things.
S: Spend time in nature. This breaks up the monotony of the same old routine because nature is always changing. This actually slows the brains perception of time.
A: Avoid multi-tasking. Be mindful of what you are doing at all times and this will certainly lower the level of stress that you experience.
