Welcome back to Psyched! Episode 3 is our first official mental health episode and this week, Maheen and Katie tackle the subject of anxiety, ranging from Maheen’s fear of having to make a phone call, all the way to discussions of panic attacks and dissociation. We want to extinguish the taboo around anxiety, and promote a positive conversation that encourages people to open up about their experiences, and not feel as if their feelings are invalidated. As usual, we discuss many topics over the course of the episode, including the causes for different types of anxiety, high functioning vs low functioning anxiety and self-help tools that you can use if yourself or a loved one may be feeling overwhelmed. We share our own personal anecdotes that allow you to hear about our experiences, in the hope that this discussion will allow you to feel comfortable to do the same. However, we are not medical professionals, so if you do believe that you are struggling, please go along to our Instagram page @psyched_podcast for links with information about how to get help.
